THE THING THAT CHANGED EVERYTHING ( CHAP 1)

CHAPTER I : Introduction

Evelyn had always believed that every mystery could be explained by logic or science, and that ghosts belonged only in books, movies, and the imagination of those who wanted to believe.

Evelyn Blackwood was the kind of person who believes in facts and science and not in superstitions or her grandma’s old tales. She is  twenty-five-year-old. Evelyn is a woman who commands attention without even trying. With intoxicating blue eyes that seem to see straight through people, and fiery red hair cropped short and messy, she has a sharp striking presence. Her style is unapologetically goth- black leather jacket, ripped tights and heavy combat boots- complemented by four silver piercing in each ear and a subtle belly piercing. She has a tattoo on the inner side of her left wrist: three hearts arranged vertically—one for herself, one for her father, and one for that someone she never found.

One event in Evelyn’s life that shaped her even more is the death of her mother. When Evelyn was 14 her mother died in a car crash. The loss was sudden and devastating, leaving Evelyn and her father to rebuild a new life without her. This event brought Evelyn more close to her father. Evelyn doesn’t trust people easily.

Evelyn can be as kind as an angel or as cruel as hell—it all depends on you. Evelyn is a stubborn person. Once she makes her decision, nothing in the world can stop her. From a very young age, she observed everything carefully, noticing details others often missed. She could practically see through people, as if everything were written on their faces. She had always loved action and never backs down from a challenge. She is endlessly curious, always asking questions and digging deeper. Confident in herself, she never lets the fear of failure hold her back. She loves solving mysteries, yet she has never managed to solve the greatest mystery of all—her own life.  But her curiosity often pulls her toward secrets she should have left alone. Combined with her “I’m not scared of anything” attitude, it constantly leads her into dangerous situations—and those situations rarely end well. She’s not someone you should mess with. When she gets angry, things can turn violent. The only person who was ever able to keep her temper in check was her father. Her dad had always been there for her, no matter what happened. Through every mistake, every setback, and every outburst, he never turned his back on her. He understood her better than anyone else and knew how to calm the storms that raged inside her when no one else could.

Evelyn is a journalist who investigates bizarre murder cases, but one case keeps her awake at night. She has been a journalist for two years, yet she has never encountered anything like this. The woman who lived her life guided by facts and science had experienced something no one could ever imagine-an  experience that will haunt her till her last breath.

When Evelyn isn’t investigating or lost in her own mind, she spends her time painting, focusing on the slightest detail. She also loves to cook. Nothing fancy but she makes a mean pasta. If there’s one thing you can say about her, it’s that she can’t live without music or food. She rarely goes anywhere without her headphone and always carries a snack in her bag.

Who knew that one event was going to change everything?
